Hello everyone, I finally have progress to share with you on our entry. Before I show you the entry progress, let me take you back and show you where we started:
The exterior view of the entry will be undergoing some major changes this Summer. It is exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. You know me, sometimes what I picture in my head doesn’t look so good in real life.
The only thing that is the same here is my hair color;)
As you can see, the front door color has changed- again.
When I took out the camera, my photo shy sidekick was slinking upstairs to hide. When I opened the door, curiosity got the better of her and I finally got an adorable picture of her.
I went back and forth about what to put on this wall. We (Big Daddy) was going to build a hall tree because I wanted storage and a place to sit if needed. The only thing that bothered me about that was it would be the first thing you see when you opened the front door. I know my family and I well enough to know that after I took the “pretty pictures” for the blog, that hall tree would be a drop zone. “Cluttered mess” was not the first impression I wanted people to have when they walked through the door. When I thought about it, we didn’t really need a place to sit because there are stairs right there(not ideal) and also a chair in the dining room. You can see the chair here. I settled on the table because it is the right scale for the entry and it also provides a small amount of functional storage.
I love, love, love this frame. It was one of those ” I don’t have a place for this but my life will never be the same without it.” purchases. I broke my “buy with purpose rule” but I had to. I got it on Black Friday for a major discount and if that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is. I did learn two things that I feel I must share with you: For rules to work, one must be flexible and always look for signs. I will say I am super relieved I found the perfect spot for it.
The clips will be a fun way to display momentoes. I can just picture Christmas cards in the winter…
I added the picnic basket for storage.
The view of the front door will be changing. It has always seemed strange to us to have a heater by the front door. There are radiators in the living room and dining room so it would be nice to remove this one. We are going to check with our plumber to see if we really need one in the entry.
I just replaced the mirror and added a basket . It is nice to have a mirror by the front door. I replaced the tray with the basket as a catchall for keys and mail etc. It looks cleaner and less cluttered and I love it.
The only things left to do in the entry are replace the rug and tackle the blank wall by the front door. The blank wall will have to wait until the exterior work is finished. As far as the rug goes, I’m looking for one that has texture and maybe a black geometric pattern in it. I am toying with stenciling the one I have since it is the right size, has texture and would be free.
Thanks for stopping by!
