Flamingos and Pineapples

After the Christmas in July home tour, I thought I would jump back into Summer and share a couple of my latest obsessions, pineapples and flamingos. Pineapples are a symbol of welcome and hospitality. They are also pretty tasty. What’s not to love, Pina Colada anyone?

No one is more surprised than me about my flamingo obsession. First they caught my eye and I thought they were quirky and cute. Then I started noticing them more and more and googling “flamingo art”. Before I knew it, an obsession was born.Ā Flamingos are not my first bird obsession. Back in high school, penguins were my jam. I am almost embarrassed to admit that in senior year, I made my own penguin costume. (I can feel the heat rising up the back of my neck as I write this.)I wore it to school for the costume contest and lost to a “southern belle” who btw rented her costume – whatever.

I really, really want a flock of flamingo lawn ornaments but that will not happen- ever. Big Daddy says I am not allowed to have lawn ornaments not now and not on the holidays. Since he puts up the Christmas lights, I respect his ridiculous wishes. Just in case you don’t have any lawn ornament restrictions, I found a flock of ten flamingos for thirty bucks.

In the meantime, I have rounded up a few flamingo items. I could probably bring numbers 1,3 and 6 home and nobody would notice. Take a look:

I have the pineapple rug (#1)by my back door and it is summery and fun. I also have the pineapple ice cubes and they keep the drinks cold without watering them down.

What about you, do you have any Summer obsessions? I would love to here about them.
