After years of going to garage sales, I finally got together with a couple of friends and had my first garage sale. I was finally on the other side of the tables. My trash (and some of my treasures) became someone else’s treasures.
For the last year, I have been sorting through our stuff, decrapifying, donating (15 large contractor bags), finding homes for furniture and boxing items for my first garage sale.
With a week’s notice, we threw the world’s best first garage sale filled with vintage items, new items, furniture and a couple of pieces you may have seen on Teeny Ideas.
Since I always share my garage sale finds with you, I thought it would be fun to share what we put in our first garage sale.
I did sell this chair :
and this table:
The vintage sewing table would make a fun bar station or night stand… Totally priced to sell.
This chandelier did not sell but I am hoping my friend will let me clean it up a bit before it goes in the next garage sale.
Here are some things that did not make it out of my friend’s garage:
I love the color and patina of this vintage toolbox. One can never have too many galvanized metal buckets.
Vintage mirrors make me swoon. I love this frame and the hardware.
These pictures were taken towards the end of the day, so if you are local and see something you like, shoot me an email.
Overall we had a good time, made some money and cleaned out our spaces. I brought two full car loads of stuff to the garage sale and came home with two small boxes and a few new items… but I exercised a lot of restraint- a lot. I definitely see a second garage sale in my future.
What do you like better, going to garage sales or having them?
