Christmas Home Tour Part 1

Welcome to my Christmas home tour part 1.  I love decorating for Christmas and would probably decorate right up until Christmas day if I could. Unfortunately, there comes a time in the Holiday season where I have to stop decorating and put all the boxes back in the attic.

I usually put the Christmas decorations up two weeks before Christmas and take them down two weeks after Christmas. This year I started decorating the house the day after Thanksgiving. I thought it might be nice to decorate early so that we could enjoy the Christmas decorations  especially when the craziness of the Holidays sets in. I imagined coming home from Christmas shopping, turning on the Christmas lights and decompressing by the tree. I didn’t turn the Christmas lights on until December first.

ENTRY

I kept the decor in the entry to a minimum. If you turned to face the front door you would see that there is still patching to do from the construction. There will be more on that in the New Year.

I love the “believe” sign and it shows up every year- usually in the entry.

DEN

When I was little, my mom made each (9) of us a stocking hanger. The snowman on the top shelf was mine. I have my stocking too, I just haven’t found the perfect spot for it yet.

Last year, I put my vintage deer in an apothecary jar in the kitchen. This year, I thought they would be better on a shelf. When you see them up close they have a whole crazy eye thing going on. Now when I look at them on the shelf, they look like cute.

LIVING ROOM

Christmas home tour part one

This is the view of the living room from the couch in the den. Nine times out of ten there is an animal napping on that bench.

I added greens, mercury glass candle holders and a couple of ornaments to a tray for a simple coffee table centerpiece.

I never understood the people that put up their Christmas decorations in November. To me, November is still Fall and Thanksgiving, why rush to Christmas? Now, I get it. If you put them up early, you can enjoy them longer. When do you decorate for the holidays?

Thanks for stopping by my Christmas home tour part one. I hope you enjoyed it. I am working on part two and hope to share it on Friday.

You can see previous home tours here and here and here.
