HomeGoods: What I Saw, What I Got and Where I Put it

After sharing my garage sale finds with you in my last post, I realized I miss sharing my finds with you. I haven’t been to many estate/garage sales lately. Hopefully that will change as the weather gets nicer.  On one of my visits to Homegoods, there was so much good stuff/ inspiration. I thought I would share what I saw at HomeGoods, what I got and where I put it.

What I Saw:

You could easily DIY a tray like this. All you need is a piece of wood and some old knobs and pulls.

More DIY inspiration. If you don’t have an old crate, you could make a sign with  piece of scrap wood.

I can not get enough of these modern tabletop planters. Until now, I had only seen floor size planters. The floor size planters are too pricey for me since I don’t know exactly where I would put it. The tabletop planters  are budget friendly and can go anywhere. (Can you guess what came home with me?)

This picture caught my eye. I don’t have a place for it, but I wish I did.

I took this picture to show Big Daddy that scrap wood pieces don’t always have to go in the garbage.

I thought this wood teapot was cool but a little risky. On closer inspection, I realized it was solid wood and purely for decoration.

I loved this tray, but I have no place for it.

Easter at HomeGoods is in full swing. So far I have resisted buying anything.

What I Got:

Surprise, I picked up a tabletop planter! I didn’t buy the wood teapot but I couldn’t pass up the large wood ring sculpture? I don’t even know what to call it. I also bought a piece of pottery.

What I Did With It:

mcm console

I gave our MCM console a little update for Spring with the tabletop planter and the wood ring sculpture. It is clean and fresh and I love it. I couldn’t find two planters with varying heights so Big Daddy made me one! I know, I know he is the best!

I found this tutorial here and he adjusted the measurements. He was also able to use scrap wood, so that kept the cost down. I found the white planter on clearance at Lowe’s- score! It was a totally random find on the end of an aisle. The taller DIY planter is a combination of real and faux succulents. The real succulent is the tall one in the back. I just stuck it in pot and all so that watering it wouldn’t be a problem. I filled the rest of the planter with sand (because that is what I had on hand) and stuck the faux succulents in the front. I finished it off with white glass vase fillers that I also had on hand.

I used the pottery as a utensil caddy. I have been bringing a little blue into the kitchen.

Hopefully, the next time I share some of my “finds” it will be from a garage sale. If not, I will just have to make another trip to HomeGoods. Have you been to HomeGoods lately? Did you score any great finds? I would love to hear about them!
