Succulent Centerpiece

The succulent centerpiece is complete and the Spring dining room table is ready for its’ closeup. I love the Spring tablescape and the succulent centerpiece so much that it will probably stick around for Summer too. One of the best things about the succulent centerpiece is that the succulents are faux. They will always look like this and they won’t die.

The tablescape came together a piece at a time starting with this large carved wood bowl. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I loved the raw wood and the carvings. It was large and versatile. I could change it for the seasons but it also looks beautiful empty. To contrast the raw wood, I pulled out silver wedding candlesticks and a couple of silver Goodwill finds.

I used my vintage Reader’s Digest books to vary the height of the silver pieces and add interest. I also filled the sugar bowl and creamer with small faux succulents. At this point the wood bowl was empty and it looked okay but I decided to make it a succulent centerpiece.

Believe it or not, the macrame table runner was the last piece I added to the dining table. A few months ago, I saw a macrame curtain at HomeGoods. Since then I have been obsessed with finding a macrame table runner. I toyed with the idea of making one but it required laying out feet of string on the floor- not an ideal situation for a two cat household. Anyway, I had given up on the macrame table runner. A couple of months later I am walking through HomeGoods and I found a macrame table runner mixed in with the throw blankets! I love it!

Candlelight makes everything better, don’t you think?

I am really happy with our Spring dining table and the succulent centerpiece. What do you put on your dining table? I’d love to hear about it.
