Halloween Decorating at Humdingers

Humdingers, a very cool entertainment cafe opened in the town next to me.  Brand spanking new with boutique bowling lanes, batting cages, arcade games for all ages, a laser maze, cafe and a wine bar, Humdingers is a pretty big place, which is exciting enough! Even more exciting, I was given the opportunity to decorate the entrances and cafe for Halloween!

We decided that focusing on a few key areas would give the most bang for the buck so to speak. I came up with a skeleton theme, even skeletons want to have fun right?  I tried to imagine how they would go about checking out Humdingers…

On a side note, nothing causes a stir at target like a cart full of skeletons. People had a lot of questions.

After hours shenanigans, why go through the front door when they could climb the entrance and get inside other ways?

Big Daddy was instrumental in making my story come to life.

Side Entrance:

Inside the side entrance, skeletons riding bikes. How often do you get to ride bikes indoors? Since it is not something one would usually do, wouldn’t skeletons want to?

Inside the main entrance, I set up a skeleton fortune teller scene.

I made the crystal ball with a glass globe and part of an old light fixture. Sometimes it does pay to save random things!

I lit a candle and held it just inside the rim of the globe so that the soot from the flame would give the crystal ball a spooky effect. Once that was done, I glued the base of the globe to the base of the lamp piece.

The side of the silo was perfect for a spooky swarm of bats.

I mentioned earlier that Big Daddy was instrumental and man I wasn’t exagerating. There were about 180 bats to be hung in a spooky swarm and he was responsible for about 170 of them. I started hanging bats in the upper corner and he started on the ground with the “up swoop” of the bats. He nailed it and just kept going and going and going. If it weren’t for him, I’m pretty sure I would still be up on the ladder.

You can also see where the skeletons entered Humdingers. They were completely unphased by the bats. I guess that is to be expected, they are skeletons after all… The End.

Halloween decorating at Humdingers was such a fun and exciting opportunity for me. To be honest it was also a little nerve wracking. Decorating for myself/ family is one thing. I know what I like and well, my family likes me. Decorating for someone else took me way out of my comfort zone but that’s a good thing right? Make sure to check out Humdingers, especially if your local and looking for something fun to do this weekend!!

  1. Well you did an amazing job! I had the opportunity to go there and my nieces not only loved Humdingers, (especially the laser maze!) but thought taking pictures next to the spooky displays was so much fun! Really creative. I’m stealing some of your ideas!
