Simple Halloween Mantle

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I had a little help decorating the mantle this year. My skeleton friends are back and making themselves at home. I decided on a simple Halloween mantle. I just realized that this year’s Halloween mantle is made from past Halloween diy projects. Score one for recycling and repurposing.

The ghosts, bats and tapestry are all diy projects. As a matter of fact, I think the ghosts were one of my first diy/repurposing crafts that I shared on Teeny Ideas. The three ghosts on the right were glass shades from old sconces. You can see the diy here, it was spooktacular. Sometimes, I can’t resist a teeny bit of Halloween humor.

The ghost on the far left is a cloche that I still use, so he is masquerading as a ghost. I filled the cloche with batting and made the face from black cardstock. It literally took three minutes. I downloaded a free bat template off the internet and cut a few bats from black card stock. Originally they were for Humdingers but five bats in and I was googling pre- made bats. I found them at Party City thank God because I would have had to cut out one hundred eighty bats- 180.

The tapestry was originally a tea towel from HomeGoods. Originally, I was going to frame it but none of my frames were the right size. I wrapped the top edge of the tea towel around a dowel rod, glued it and added black and white bakers twine and voila, instant Halloween tapestry. I got the banner on from Target on clearance. You could easily make a similar one from book pages  check out Dollar spot at Target. They almost always haves banners.

The ghosts are pretty cute.

A simple Halloween mantle on top and a little bit of Autumn below. So “business in the front, party in the back”. Also known as I was running out of time and Halloween decorations.

Happy Haunting.
